Dance tag

TO THIS FROM THIS !!

I saved this rather lovely tag from one of our DS jumpers. It's very substantial, so would take to being altered with no problem. I often save tags, along with acetate and cardboard from packing! Tags are quicker to use and save money from buying or time from die cutting/ or punching from card.


Using a palette knife I applied 2 layers of  thick, (mixed my myself)), brown acrylic pain followed by a layer of Gesso.





Then came the Peacock and Pumice Stone DI and Paper Artsy Fresco paint, again paint applied with a palette knife.



Then I stamped and embossed the dancer, I think she's a Scroll Works stamp. Grounded the dancer with brown paint.  







Then tried several layouts, using flowers, Stamped, masked and stamped and heat embossed a male face for the dancer to gaze into ....  not happy so left it overnight. No Offence meant to the Angel Knight from Elusive Images.


Following day I decided to re-stamp and emboss the dancer, fussy cut and thus add dimension. On a computer  I generated she loved Dancing scroll, fussy cut and positioned in a corner to the other corner a cream ceramic flower, lace and grey ribbon - quite happy now !!

Tag - Tim Holtz style

At last..........  I decided to join Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 so followed his video well kind off..... washi tape applied, (not sure why I chose cobwebs, maybe  thinking of the spring cleaning awaiting, or blowing the cobwebs of winter away) .

I only had ancient crackle distress paint and used Brown Linen - but it was very thick and so most came off.... I forgot that was a "wipe stage", and drowned the tag in water!! Must say these tags are very forgiving, as after inking I never "flicked" with water, again drowned it!!!!! Surprised any mediums stayed on!!

CD Graphicus  -Peacock Summer Party  and Christmas CD used for backing papers - just have Harlequin sizzix die. Sizzix again used for the flowers - Tattered Florals die, a big thank you to Jennie for her great tutorial which can be found here http://jennie-livethedream.blogspot.co.uk/. One flower coloured with Shaded Lilac and squeezed Lemonade  Distress Ink.Now I should have die cut my leaves but obviously got distracted.....

So I stuck the harlequin trips on, infilled with a few peacock feather die inserts from another strip, hadn't thought of any other infills but there you go it'll do ... Next stage flowers - no leaves so off to stash metal ones found hooray!! I had some white ribbon did the wetting and zipping through ink pads - tried it on the lower half but not as I wanted so made a huge knot at the top of the tag instead.

I did not like the space on top right hand so placed my wording connector there instead of to the lovely ribbon I had tied to the bottom of my tag - put a large metal bird onto the bow  - done!!

Craft Barn Q and L Challenge Truth and Change

Just in time! Gosh how thrilled am I to be on the wall of fame for the last Q and L challenge ......                                  

Once the challenge is announced I search a quote and try to align a quote with my imagery. The trouble with this fortnight's Q and L was I had too many options !! Also school holidays, with DH away so not any quality me time. I chose truth, and created a journal page. I will photo the interim pages where all the quotes and lyrics from all participants are referenced some when :)

Craft Barn Q and L Challenge

 The latest Q and L Challenge at  The Craft Barn is flowers and Travel. I'm enjoying the challenge and am playing in a journal, I am adding fellow  participant and DT member quotes and lyrics too.

 

I brayered Big and Juicy "happy birthday", the shimmer just doesn't show on any of the photos :(  

Using Colourbox evergreen ink pad a stencil by Crafters workshop I created a leafy background. I highlighted the stems of leafs with stickles.

I then brayered Paper Artsy Eclectia 3, plate 01 large flower, with Big and Juicy "vibrant primary" onto white card stock and  fussy cut several, edged the petals of some with stickles and added more stickles to stamen of the flower. 3D Foam to curled flowers. Internet search for a quote which I printed, inked and stuck to complete the basic Journal page :)




I like this photo as you can see the shimmer of the stickles .

Paper Artsy Inspired - Ellen Vargo

Ellen Vargo showed how she created a journal page in 3 great videos which you can see here.

I followed within the confines of my crafting goodies, I used acrylic paints, the smaller leaf from Lin Brown ELB01 plate of stamps. Artistic Stampers Punk Plaid Large stamp. I used scraps from another project as a frame rather than the map and a different quote. The result is below....

 

                                                              Thanks to Ellen, and Pare Artsy - I had lovely fun - for future projects I will put less texture in the middle I think oh and invest in markers - all writing was done using a used pen dunked in ink :)  :)

TMTA Nature and Through The Craft Room Door

This is a basic quick ATC for  TMTA whose theme this week is nature, the image below is part of a Funstamp  stamp

The background was created using inks which were blended, image stamped in brown then pencil coloured - ingredients below .

At last......My Interpretation of Pop Art

The latest The Craft -Room Challenge (20TH Century); and the Q and L challenge (Art and or Road) at The Craft Barn  had me coming  up with so many ideas.... I had to plan, develop and create on one - if only time wasn't always an issue :)

As a child of the 60's I loved comic books and I think POP ART is truly representative of the 60's, especially Andy Warhol. The inclusion of advertisements in "art", bubble graphics, to the iconic "Marilyn Diptych" (originally on silk), which has seen so many later interpretations I decided to reproduce my own. Not having a Marilyn Munroe stamp I chose a new to me stamp by the Stamp Attic, ATC sized card, primary coloured paints and inks, mounted the ATC's into an art journal did some hand doodling, found a quote from A.Warhol and mounted  tada...........

 

I enjoyed taking the journal into the warm sun - shame about the shadow, so back indoors.......

Altered Paper Mache Heart

This weekend and early week I have had so much fun altering a paper mache heart I think no other image/object conveys love and romance more ....
Here is the finished heart and the second photo shows my ingredients. I used diluted PVA glue, a neutral shade of tissue paper onto which I stamped just 2 of the lovely "Floral Flourishes and Swirls" using Nick BanTock's Van Dyke Brown Ink. I distresses the edges of the torn tissue with the ink pad, having torn to size, coated all in another PVA coating once in position, loved the effect that the ink bled a little and blended, (using foam tool), over the heart. I made a ribbon bow and stitched using clear nylon thread a small bronze bird.Fabric glue secured the ribbon bow and lace to the heart.

Gosh it's been great to get inky, more time spent looking for equipment than playing!! At last an ATC I'm entering this for Craft -Room Challenge 6 days left if anyone else would like to join! Aquarius is the theme: being of a simple mind I just thought water, sea, bubbles, boats and then with thoughts of cruises and warmer climates me looking forward to the summer hence the binoculars coz it's freezing and the summer feels such along way away :) Also TMTA whose theme is glasses, pair of glasses, I am hoping binoculars are Ok. What a long time since I last posted. I have been crafting a little just not joining any challenges or getting as inky as I liked mainly because we've refurbished the kitchen, bathroom and toilet and installed lots of electrics into the garage sooo  the bulk of my crafting goodies are still in storage :( . I hope to get inky real soon :)

Lots To Do - Backgrounds

This weeks theme at Lots To Do is backgrounds.The background is brayered over a Dream Weaver template, which I then removed removed coloured the white atea in gold pen, stuck some glitter strands on to imitate snow - the rest is self explanatory!
This is a card I have made and need to foward to Ali at Crafty Ribbons using the beautiful ribbon which can be found here . Would be great for Wedding cards too!
