Crafty individuals

I thought I had already entered my tag into the current Crafty Individuals Challenge  Tag you're It - if you want to enter you've just over a day to do so  :)   alas not! Better late than never!!
Basic Tag sprayed with dylusion paints I think Holly and Peridot. White pencil through Crafter Workshop Chicken Wire Stencil . The background floral stamp is a Crafty Individual loose stamp (I think years ago the company did ATC snatch bags?), as is the border, all stamped in Versafine Onyx Ink. The main image is CI - 260, I just used the framed lady, edges of frame  coloured in  Viva Precious Metal Bronze colour, and I highlighted part of the frames top and bottom too. Lady and dress coloured with Copics. Quote -"To love and be loved is the greatest happiness",  is part of CI 031,an acrylic painted offcut from another project.

Darcy and Q and A

Oh MY WORD!!  It was pointed out that my quote for   The Craft Barn Q and L Challenge was wrong. (Thank you Twinkle Toes). So I double checked and had written the quote wrong - sorry all because as I wanted to edit blogger had a moment so I've had to restart all over ROFL.

As you can see the pic above was my original Journal page (complete with error), created with the help of the lovely Darcy's monthly tutorials over at Paper Artsy Blog. I loved the bulrushes and frame she created, so did my own "take" on her page and used several of the techniques she showed us.
I stamped lots of words onto tissue paper.

I used a scraper (grouting tool), to apply acrylic paint in red, yellow, (standard) Amethyst, Dusty Teal, Dolly Mixture and Chalk Fresco paints to the journal pages.

The fun part of tearing the tissue and adding to the painted page.

Luckily I paid attention to Darcy's advice and built my "knocked back" layers of Chalk Fresco slowly and diluted but forgot to use the palette knife to apply - I used that for apply grunge paste later!
I used PS 007 for the flower and bulrushes. The bulrushes were pasted and then reused stencil, once dry to paint using Lumin Arte paint ant trying to shade them! I stamped the birds and reeds from Hot Picks 1005 plate in versafine black onyx ink onto tissue. I managed to contaminate with the Luminaire colours from the bulrushes, so had to quickly colour and stick the image onto the page!! Using PS007 I stencilled with Coloubox eggshell white  and clear embossed the lower 2 flowers and transparent sparkled the top 3. It needed colour so off set the stencil to top 3 flowers (Darcy had shown this a few months earlier) and painted using Luminaire Wisteria.
The technique I know I will use again is the edging created using torn paper and Dusty Teal Fresco paint.
The apt quote is here  and so I have corrected the original written quote !!!

Mistakes

The current words for Craft Barn Q and L Challenge is Mountain and Mistake - I chose mistake and used a Linsey Masson quote "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Go with them and see where they take you. "

I had great fun creating this double page I used my (new to me) Dylusion spray inks, and stamps,  Lynne Perrella (Paper Artsy) stamps Wendy Vecchi stencil with paste. Another stencil.  Pencil and pen for highlights, and a couple of extra doodles!

WOW  did I enjoy the challenge - for almost 2 weeks I've been humming a Song to the latest Craft Barn Q and L Challenge   Passion and Music - me being me immediadately turned the 2 words around and ........ after prepping pages with TH DI and a border stamp...... the transposed words became .........

Music and Passion and the Barry Manilow song Copacabana  .........   soo many ideas and images !!  I settled for a sort of scrapbook  double page journal entry. The Copacabana - PA Hot Picks 1108, Artistic Outpost Gastby for "Tony" and "Rico" and a digital image of Sally Fields as Lola. Colored stmped imges with pencils.

From the Players as it were to the bones of the song.........     Stampendous stamp - I love the piano and sheet music,  and TH Sizzix Die to portray Passion,  bit of Computer paly to generate the wording for the pages and  song lyrics.............

Paint play

With all the gorgeous Gelliplate backgrounds I wanted to see what I could do without one!  So here's my take using cheap copier paper.  A mixture of acrylic paint, poster paint, die cuts and for the later ones water oh and of course a brayer.  I used a glass placemat - it has a texture which came through nicely on the last pressings.

I had great fun and will be doing more soon!!!

Thanks for looking :)

Craft Barn Q and L.

Where did the last 2 weeks go.....    yet again - last minute entry from me into the Craft Barn  Q and L Challenge.

The choice of words were Unique or Fame.

Having spent a week driving myself silly humming the theme song from the Fame series (I go back further than the movie LOL ). I chose Unique, search and found the quote I wanted to use then thought .....

I started by altering some strips of old projects and stamping them , tore an old information medication sheet, and scraps of paper left from other project and stuck them on my journal page.

I then painted green and yellow acrylic paint onto the page.

On the top right I wanted to stencil some blocks but the precious Blue Azure decided to leak so I did some Doodling !!

I am very lucky to now own a lot of face stamps and enjoyed getting lots of them inky !!

I stamped my largest Inovative stamp onto tissue paper twice and covered 2 of the pages corners. I finished doodling the edges of the page.

My DD kindly wrote out my quote onto Newspaper (while I peeled veg for tea).

The quote is by Margaret Mead " Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else"  .

Enjoy the hot weekend if you are visiting from the UK and thanks for stopping by  :)

Dance tag

TO THIS FROM THIS !!

I saved this rather lovely tag from one of our DS jumpers. It's very substantial, so would take to being altered with no problem. I often save tags, along with acetate and cardboard from packing! Tags are quicker to use and save money from buying or time from die cutting/ or punching from card.

Using a palette knife I applied 2 layers of  thick, (mixed my myself)), brown acrylic pain followed by a layer of Gesso.

Then came the Peacock and Pumice Stone DI and Paper Artsy Fresco paint, again paint applied with a palette knife.

Then I stamped and embossed the dancer, I think she's a Scroll Works stamp. Grounded the dancer with brown paint.

Then tried several layouts, using flowers, Stamped, masked and stamped and heat embossed a male face for the dancer to gaze into ....  not happy so left it overnight. No Offence meant to the Angel Knight from Elusive Images.

Following day I decided to re-stamp and emboss the dancer, fussy cut and thus add dimension. On a computer  I generated she loved Dancing scroll, fussy cut and positioned in a corner to the other corner a cream ceramic flower, lace and grey ribbon - quite happy now !!

I am submitting this into Craft Room Challenge - Dance

Tag - Tim Holtz style

At last..........  I decided to join Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 so followed his video well kind off..... washi tape applied, (not sure why I chose cobwebs, maybe  thinking of the spring cleaning awaiting, or blowing the cobwebs of winter away) .
I only had ancient crackle distress paint and used Brown Linen - but it was very thick and so most came off.... I forgot that was a "wipe stage", and drowned the tag in water!! Must say these tags are very forgiving, as after inking I never "flicked" with water, again drowned it!!!!! Surprised any mediums stayed on!!
CD Graphicus  -Peacock Summer Party  and Christmas CD used for backing papers - just have Harlequin sizzix die. Sizzix again used for the flowers - Tattered Florals die, a big thank you to Jennie for her great tutorial which can be found here http://jennie-livethedream.blogspot.co.uk/. One flower coloured with Shaded Lilac and squeezed Lemonade  Distress Ink.Now I should have die cut my leaves but obviously got distracted.....

So I stuck the harlequin trips on, infilled with a few peacock feather die inserts from another strip, hadn't thought of any other infills but there you go it'll do ... Next stage flowers - no leaves so off to stash metal ones found hooray!! I had some white ribbon did the wetting and zipping through ink pads - tried it on the lower half but not as I wanted so made a huge knot at the top of the tag instead.
I did not like the space on top right hand so placed my wording connector there instead of to the lovely ribbon I had tied to the bottom of my tag - put a large metal bird onto the bow  - done!!

Hope everyone had a good Easter - back to same old routines tomorrow!!      :)
