New Year 2021

What a challenge 2020 was this is the only project I completed since April following anonline tutorial by Shawn Petite. 

It turned out different as I used texture paste through a Stamperia stencil and gold metallic lustre creme and one of my flower bases lower papers showed through so I made a focal point top right and stencilled the word  Hope - which continues to be my word for 2021. 

Here's hoping 2021 will be a happier, brighter and peaceful year although it sure hasn't started that way yet !!

First play with Paperbabe stencils and stamps - Alien

Well despite the fact that I ended up going green to cover inky marks the process to create my Alien was a joy I can see me having lots of fun with these Paperbabe Dinky's

A Different Alice

 It is fun to be challenged - it is years since I followed a sketch but the current Paperbabe Challenge is a sketch!!
 I love all thing Alice so after thinking and playing with ideas I came up with this journal page - inspired in kind by a trip a couple of of years ago Alice Underground - which was a truly memorable day!!

The theatre company have twists in the tale and I decided to have the same in my page.

I used a page from an old book - the Dodo Race, mounted on a used brown envelope (recyling)

The lady image and background are digital - the image I  coloured with copics love the quote and I think it is very apt for all of Alice!!The background I altered with acrylic paints / glaze / splatters.

 The entwined circles / bubbles are a sizzix die cut - I used them to also highlight some of the book text.

Had a lot of fun making my page and enjoying the processes

OOPS  It has been a while since I blogged still creating just haven't posted for a long time !!

Once again I joined Wunderlust - although I may not attempt all the lessons I love seeing all the processes and love belonging to the FB group.

Bokeh Page 2

As the inks were out I decided to play on the next page. I decided this time to do the water flick on DI before the Bokeh technique and think I may prefer it!

 This pic was taken indoors the second in the garden - I love the clearer definition I achieve outside in natural sunlight :)

 Not sure which of my pages I prefer.

Bokeh Technique

I enjoyed this technique and made time for journaling using the technique with images from Bee Crafty stamps and quotes from Visible Image using TH Distress Inks and Versafine Black onyx Ink . I made the stencil myself using 2 hole punches.

 as you can see the poor light makes the page so dull :(

Luckily today the sunshine is out so I took a much better pic out in the garden :)
I like the way the White DI acts as a resist to the black ink when I stamped images over the Bokeh back ground.

Chieftain McTavish

 I have been playing with Tracy Easson's lovely McTavish stamps .

Today is one of my projects using  Chieftain McTavish  I stamped him in versafine ink, coloured him very loosely with copic markers.

I prepared an MDF plaque Shawn Petite style .

Lots of Messy Fun

 Indoor and outdoor photo for comparison

I love creating faux brickwork and paving so thoroughly enjoyed decorating the newer version of the Woodform Crafts Haunted House for their 16th Sept  Hochanda Show.

Trying to capture the textures and shading Roof is cardboard cut to shape painted in light grey and then black for shading trying to judge the fall of the moonlight on the structures.   Textured paste and TH Stencil for red brickwork. Painted then aged. Path /garden  modelling paste through a different stencil,  again painted then aged.

 Tree with string to add texture / interest, painted.  Headstones Andy Skinner Embossing powders  one I added a cameo for interest.

Never Give Up On Your Dream

 Time for a crafty play - I decorated a 20 x 11 cm plaque. I painted it with white acrylic paint then added differing layers of Stamperia crackle (white). I added washes of Raw Umber and then Walnut stain drying and rubbing back until I had the effects I wanted. above and below photos at the same stage different background.

 I then used Stamperia stencil ( you will notice I later washed and lost the butterflies as they were not giving me the effect I was looking for).

 I added further washes and used an Andy Skinner background stamp for added interest. Plus using a stipling brush added some nice Walnut splatters .

I prepared some cardstock with TH Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber Inkpads stamped and embossed one of my favourite Visible Image quotes and arranged my TH Transparent Wings.

 Having sealed the piece I added the quote and butterflies.

It was nice to get out again into the garden to take several photos of the finished project.

 The lower and top butterflies are positioned as if the butterflies are in flight.

Hochanda 16/06/19 - Alchemist's Chest

I was thrilled to be asked to decorate a small MDF for  Woodform Crafts debut on Honchanda.
I started by painting and stamping the inside of the box A happy accident meant  used Iridescent bronze in the rusty layering technique which resulted in a rich sheen - quite yummy!

The chest was a Potions kit so lots of embellishments to alter and decorate - I only used a few so lots for future projects too . The book I decorated using printouts from Heather's Thicketworks site - if you have never visited before you are in for a treat ! The mortar and pestle are Andy Skinners Granite Embossing powder.

For the outside having glued the chest I altered by using Stamperia rice paper, embellishments and paints for rusting I did think of using a metal chain around the edge but stuck with rust!!

I added metallic  embellishments from my stash - really enjoyed decorating the chest.

Inside the chest for the lovely Jo Ward I left a scroll with ingredients and chocolate
