PapererArtsy #12 Stencils

I enjoyed watching the great video introducing stencils I was heavily influenced by Leandra using grey on a tag and so here's my version. Not having the lovely Lin Brown's stencils and stamps I have Jo's lovely stencil (007) and some stamps (JOYF 10).
My stencilling is not as neat as Leandra's - but I am pleased with the finished tag and the London  Night and Stone painted background help make the flowers pop!

I outlined with a black copic pen - all other ingredients are shown below.
Off to enjoy this lovely weather.

Craft Stamper free Visual Image stamp meets Finnabair Stamps!

Despite my lack of voice and snuffles I managed a lovely play session in my journal. Dylusionn sprays, water and then designing the page!

I loved how both these stamps work so well together - the Visual Image stamp is great as a border - love the swirls. However I had my Finnibair Image floating  - the VI stamp has a line of dots so I soon had her grounded again!

Here's a more detailed photo of the "grounding"!

Earrings

Over at PaperArtsy Blog the challenge theme has been miniature and Emma Godfrey made a lovely card using shrink plastic, and Leandra had included some shrink art pieces in  her introduction for miniature art.

After spending an age looking for my stash of Shrink plastic I brought a new supply but clear- EEEK!! Definitely not as forgiving as the white backed stuff I had originally; and I suppose reading the instructions first would have helped!!
For a first attempt on clear and without priming the sheet first they are better in real life than the photo although I did nearly decapitate one bird man!! Definitely more practice needed!!

So hard to photograph !!

Ingredients

Paper Artsy Stamp  -  HP1107EZ
Shrink Plastic
Copper Stazon Ink
Fresco Finish Paints - Chalk, DollyMix, Amethyst, Mushroom, Bora Bora and Mermaid.
DecoArt Matte Varnish
Jewlery findings from stash.

The Key - Altered Metal Jar Lid

For ages I've wanted to alter a jar lid - no idea why but with half term and kids with colds I decided in between feeding/ nursing / tissue handing I would have a play.

Background paper from stash cut to size, TH image stamped so I knew where to work around.
TH dots stencil and gesso brushed over, then once dry stencil offset and DecoArt Raw sienna acrylic paint  brushed over. TH grunge stamp inked in Barn Door DI and stamped to ground fairy.
Tiny key placed into fairy hand and the lid edge had a coat of texture paste which when dry was painted with DecArt Raw Sienna Acrylic paint.
TH fairy stamped and  embossed onto card stock copics colours for skin and fussy cut, later cut edges coloured with copics pen. Onto tissue paper I stamped the key using Dovecraft mini alphabet peg stamps, which were then placed and stuck with gel.

Whole thing glazed. Cropodile hole and eyelet added, 4mm beads onto clear thread to create a hanger lace applied to tin edge - all done!

Tim Holtz 2015 Tag

Had a lovely play day today - I am making a tag book for a group I enjoy being in and thought I'd combine this with Mr Holtz's Tags of 2015.
I did pretty much what he showed - paints are PA Vintage Lace, London Night and Bora Bora, over the crumpled tissue paper.Spritzed with Dylusion nutmeg, sealed with matte medium.
The saying is from a Dylusion stamp set cut and glued into position. The 2015 are TH  Diecuts x3 to give more depth - these were then gold inked - the same ink was applied as a final layer too using a cocktail stick! After I splattered PA Snowflake and positioned and glued the 2015.

Close up to see all the lovely layers .

Have a lovely weekend  :)

"Let It Snow"

Having created a Christmas Canvas I decided to make a card where the stamped images used (other than phrase) are non traditional stamps to design a Christmas card. I used a Crafty Individual corner Stamp for 2 corners and to make a couple of rough snowflakes. The sentiment stamp is from Sizzix. All were inked in Silver and clear EP.

Onto a piece of card I sprayed a selection of perfect pearls, stamped the TH fairy and die cut using Nestabilities and a plain larger circle die for the outer circle to form my bauble. An old can pull to create the top of the bauble. Gesso with applied with a cocktail stick for snow. Snowflakes punches from white card to add more interest and finally silver ribbon tied in a bow.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges

A "Hearty" Christmas Tree

Having been lucky to win the Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge in September I also got the chance to be  Guest Designer for the November Challenge  - Use a non Christmas Stamp To Create to Create A christmas Themed Image.

I had lots of fun in altering an A4 art canvas into a Christmas picture.
A few people who I know well, may now be spitting out their tea/coffee in surprise - as I don't usually do "large"   :)

So here's a quick resume of the process. Paper Artsy Fresco Paint Toad Hall, painted onto white card. Invoke "Textured Hearts" stamps inked with metallic Green from the Colorbox Petal point Brocade wheel, embossed with clear EP. Then fussy Cut.
Music Tissue paper given to me by the lovely She was glued to the canvas and left to dry. Then the background stamping began, I used a large Harlequin stamp for 2 corners using a clear pigment pad and covered with Crystal Stamp n Stuff EP  in 2 corners. Not wanting square edges I tore a piece of paper to mask off some of the stamp - remembered to keep the paper for later too! for the opposite corners I did the same using a Dylusion background stamp.
I wanted a rough idea as to where the tree would sit so I could concentrate on decorating the surrounding areas more. I used Stamplogy Stamps Jazzy Swirls which were stamped using same inks/EP as the corners to further develop the background and then I had fun spraying Glimmer Mists in Cranberry Zing and Antique Gold onto the canvas.
I was having so much fun it wasn't until after I over- stamped the corners of the canvas in Colorbox Frost  white and clear EP and  colourbox sepia back and Fun Stamps Pearl Gold EP.(Off set to create more depth). I had even started to create the border using DecoArt Gesso and more Toad Hall paint with Dylusion stencil that I remembered to take a poor Photo!!
A slightly better photo in daylight - I do need more stencil practice ! Next To create the Star - I used Paper Artsy Ellen Vargo Eclectica 3 Triangle stamp  -
 - I used Paper Artsy Ellen Vargo Eclectica 3 Triangle stamp stamped in Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink and covered with Sparkle n Sprinkle Petina Gold EP. Using a scalpel I fussy cut the Middle and edges to create the star. I directly applied Gold ink pad to the star and EP again.
For the tree container I used card painted in Cranberry Zing and Ellen's Square using inks and EP as above. Fussy cut.
The Tree stump is card painted with PA Fresco Tikka and Old Gold. Then an assembly of tree, stump, star and pot/container. I used foam to give the heart branches more dimension adding Glossy Accents to ensure they stayed in position! Little gems from stash to add the final touch.

Another photo of the completed Canvas - in real life it has loads more sparkle!!
Thank you for dropping by :)

Rusty Twinchie

Recently I did a Twinchie swap, as my lovely swap partner has now received them I can share them on the blog

A short while ago I was lucky to attend a workshop with Andy Skinner and so decided to use some of the techniques on two of the Twinchies. The lace edged smile and the one below. I love the rusty, aged look and depth the layers of paint have created.

I am entering this into Artist Trading Post Challenge which is Any Old Iron The face stamp on the above Twinchie is by Stamp N Stor Art Parts #5 .

Lots of inky fun on my journal page and a fussy cut Stampotique boy, TH, PA, C.I. and Dylusion stamps, ink pen, tissue paper for the background  - had a lovely time :)
